What is case conversion?
Case conversion is the process of changing the capitalization of letters in a piece of text while keeping the words themselves unchanged. The most common cases are UPPERCASE (every letter capital), lowercase (no capitals), Sentence case (first letter of each sentence capital), Capitalized Case (first letter of every word capital) and Title Case (major words capitalised following a style guide).
Retyping text just to fix its capitalization is slow and error-prone. A case converter does it in one click and works on anything from a single heading to thousands of words.

Tips for accurate results
Use the Settings panel to add custom terms (brand names, acronyms) that should keep a specific casing — for example iPhone, NASA or eBay. These are remembered in your browser for next time.
For proper Title Case that respects AP, APA, Chicago or MLA rules, use the dedicated Title Case Converter. For counting words and characters in long documents, use the Word Counter.
Frequently asked questions
What is a case converter?
A case converter is an online tool that rewrites text in a different letter case — such as uppercase, lowercase, title case or sentence case — without you having to retype it. You paste text in, pick a case, and copy the converted result.
How do I change uppercase text to lowercase?
Paste the uppercase text into the box above and click the "lower case" button. Every letter is converted to lowercase instantly, and you can copy or download the result.
What is the difference between Title Case and Capitalized Case?
Capitalized Case capitalises the first letter of every word. Title Case follows style-guide rules, so short articles, conjunctions and prepositions (a, an, the, and, of, in) stay lowercase unless they are the first or last word.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. All conversion happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your text never leaves your device, which makes the tool safe for confidential or unpublished content.
Is the case converter free?
Yes, every case conversion on this page is completely free with no sign-up, no limits on text length and no watermarks.
Can I convert case in Microsoft Word or Google Docs instead?
Yes — Word uses Shift+F3 to cycle cases and Google Docs has Format → Text → Capitalization. This online converter is handy when you are working in a browser, an email, a CMS or code where those shortcuts are not available.
